The in-house laboratory for developing, printing and restoring color transparencies
Scala Archive's photo laboratory is equipped with the most up to date electronic systems for the development, correction and restoration of color transparencies and image files.

Our professional technicians are experienced in fine arts photography, colour management, and receive continuous training in the application of data-processing techniques to photographic reproduction. High productivity alongside high quality is thus ensured. All photographs are taken by fine arts specialists, and the utmost attention is paid to every minute detail. The expert use of techniques such as framing, illumination, special filters, and specific developing methods, ensure Scala's images are
always of the highest quality and fidelity to the originals.

The laboratory develops color transparencies of high quality and large format (mainly 13x18 cm and 20x25 cm), and scans them as high-resolution RGB Tiff files, at a 1/1 scale, at 1000 dpi for prints of the highest quality. A digital back Imacon 32 Mpx is now used for digital photo shoots.

Scala's laboratory processes are routinely checked for quality control. Photographs that have faded over time are digitally restored or eliminated and re-shot.

A copy of each original transparency is stored in a refrigerator to maintain its color accuracy.
