The remarkable restoration by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence has brought Giotto’s crucifix back to its former glory.
The attribution is now certain, the fourteenth-century crucifix in the Church of Ognissanti in Florence is indeed by Giotto.
The original location of the crucifix within the church was at the center of the partition, the boundary between chancel and nave, to it’s right was the Maestà of the Uffizi Gallery and to it’s left was the Dormitio Virginis now in Berlin.
