In three decades of work, this remarkably versatile artist combined the political with the poetic, dealing with sobering subjects such as apartheid, colonialism, and totalitarianism.

Imbued with dreamy, lyrical undertones or comedic self-deprecation, this artist carries a powerful message which is at the same time both alluring and ambivalent.
