Mondrian / De Stijl

Next month the Centre Pompidou in Paris will host the first retrospective in France dedicated to the interwoven progress of the artistic movement De Stijl and Piet Mondrian, its leading figure.

De Stijl has been a key moment in the history of 20th century art, which influenced painting, sculpture, city planning, architecture, furniture design and graphic design.

Mondrian, with his "new abstract visual language", has been a central figure of this avant-garde, along with Theo Van Doesburg and Gerrit Rietveld, the other founders of this crossover movement.
